MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear ACS Families & Staff,

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for all of our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your commitment and support and for making ACS a special place of learning and growth!

There will be no school for students and staff on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Additionally, there will NOT be a newsletter next Sunday. We will see everyone back on Monday, November 27.

November 22-24: Thanksgiving Break (No school for staff and students)

December 4: Virtual Literacy and Math Family Night 5:00-7:00 PM (info below)

December 12: Early Release (11:45 dismissal)

December 13-January 2: Moving Days and Winter Break

January 3: Students return to school

REMINDERS

REVISED CALENDAR & WORK DAYS FOR MOVING:

Students will begin their winter break early and make Tuesday, December 12 an Early Release Day with dismissal at 11:45 AM, so that staff can begin to move classrooms and offices into the cottage.
Students will be out of school for the remainder of the week on Wednesday, December 13, Thursday, December 14, and Friday, December 15.
Students will return to school on Wednesday, January 3 and our 5th and 6th graders will finally be in the cottage!

ACS LITERACY & MATH FAMILY NIGHT

Please join us for a virtual literacy and math night event! Our interventionists will host this informative and interactive event and there might even be some giveaways for those who attend!

THE GIVING TREE

Our ACS Giving Tree now has branches full of gift tags ready for the taking. Please stop by the front office and grab a tag to help some of our own ACS families provide gifts for the holidays. Our community went above and beyond last year and we know this year will be no different. Please return gifts to the front office by Wednesday, December 6th so families can pick them up on Monday, December 11th. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

ATHLETICS

ACS CHEER CLINIC is off to a great start! Coach W & Coach Burt have been teaching the foundations of cheer, technique, and safety!

Coaches Corner:

“ Cheer is off to a strong start after the first two practices. We have almost 30 athletes signed up ready to work hard, smile and learn new things. We have learned the basics of arm positions and practiced different jumps! We can’t wait to keep building our skills and work towards tumbling and stunting. If you have a 5th or 6th-grade student interested in the ACS Cheer team for this clinic season, please fill out the Google form sent out by the classroom teachers by November 21.”

PTO NEWS

Second Quarter Public PTO Meeting: 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 29th at ACS! We will be reviewing completed projects, purchases, and events, as well as considering future fundraising initiatives, volunteer opportunities, donation drives, faculty and staff hospitality, and purchase prospects. Come out and join the discussion! We would love to hear from you!

Thanks to everyone who came out for our November dinner fundraiser at Zaxby's last week, we raised $265! Mrs. Schiltz's class pulled out the win for the most Fourth Grade students in attendance, earning their whole homeroom a catered lunch from Zaxby's on Monday the 20th!

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Skate Night: 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, November 28th at Roll-A-Bout Skating Center located at 605 Chapel Hill Rd in Burlington. Only $5 per person, and half of the entry fees for the night will be donated back to the PTO. We hope to see you there!

VOLUNTEERING

We have loved having so many volunteers in the classroom! Thank you for supporting our students and staff!

Volunteerism at our school is a way for you, parents and guardians, to learn more about ACS, engage in a positive way with your child’s teachers, and witness firsthand the hard work and dedication that all our staff - teachers, assistants, support staff, and administrators demonstrate each and every day.

It is also a way to support your student and other students by assisting with workstations or a small group, helping with clerical tasks or lunch, and/or something as simple as reading a book to the class. You do not have to be an educator to volunteer, and everyone is welcome!
