School Report Card

Below is information regarding Alamance Community School's performance on state mandated EOG assessments. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction provides this data at the state, district, and local level.

The 2020-2021 school year was Alamance Community School's first year of operation.

Due to COVID -19, the 2020-21 school year, the U.S. Department of Education and the North Carolina General Assembly (Session Law 2021-130) waived requirements for reporting the school-level accountability model and School Performance Grades; including achievement and growth.

The 2021-22 test data must be considered within the context of all COVID disruptions, and though 2018-19 data is included in the report released, it is not intended to be used as a comparison for the purpose of evaluating effort or drawing conclusions. The data must be viewed as before and during COVID. The NC Department of Public Instruction anticipates that it will take four years for our schools and educators to fill the many academic gaps caused by the pandemic. The performance of North Carolina students during the 2021-22 school year also mirrors trends reported in recent weeks by several other states that also showed significant declines from pre-pandemic performance levels.

The A-F school performance grades that schools received for the 2021-22 year were determined by the formula that was used pre-Covid, in addition to the grade level standards that have not changed since 2018. 80% of our school grade is based on the 3rd and 4th Grade test scores/proficiency and 20% is for growth. Our overall school grade is a D, but we exceeded overall growth at 87.2%. With a weighting of 80% on the test scores, school performance grades shifted downward which is consistent with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on test scores seen state-wide and nationally.
